Meet the Veteran Behind Armor Flagpoles
Share

Every flagpole business has a story behind it. Armor Flagpoles grew from a life of service, travel, hard work, and a belief that the equipment people rely on should be built to last.
I’m Rodney, the veteran behind Armor Flagpoles. Since 2021, I’ve traveled around Florida, especially the Panhandle, selling flags and meeting the people who proudly display them.
This is the story behind the business, the people who helped shape it, and the standards we bring to every flagpole we sell.
From Armor Units To Armor Flagpoles
My military experience still influences the way I think about equipment, maintenance, and reliability. It is a big part of why durability matters so much to the way we build this business.
You got to be able to Shoot, Move, and Communicate.
Master Gunner’s Standard For Excellence & Durability
During my military career, I served as a Master Gunner across many armor-unit assignments. My experience included training men on Sheridan, M60-series, and M1 tank platforms, and training National Guard units how to operate, maintain, and shoot heavy equipment.
Armor and tanker work teach you quickly that equipment has to perform under pressure. It must be dependable, serviceable, and ready for difficult conditions. That experience shaped the way I look at flagpole equipment today.
When we built Armor Flagpoles, we wanted products that reflected the same practical standards:
- Heavy-duty construction for real-world use
- Reliable parts that are straightforward to operate
- Equipment that can handle changing weather and outdoor conditions
- A complete setup that helps customers display their flags with confidence
Meeting People Through Flags
Selling flags has taken me far beyond a storefront. Each event brings a different group of people, a different story, and another chance to learn what a flag means to the person displaying it.
Selling Flags Across Florida
Since 2021, I’ve traveled throughout Florida, mainly along the Panhandle, selling flags and talking with people from all kinds of communities. I’ve also done SEO work for businesses, which taught me how important it is to listen closely, explain things clearly, and help people find what they actually need.
Flags have taken us to many different events and communities, including:
- 4th of July celebrations
- Veteran parades
- Georgia State Fair
- Pensacola Fair
- Tractor shows
- Rodeo events
- Car shows
- Motorcycle rallies
Every event has its own energy. Some people are looking for a flag for their home. Others want one for a trailer, a vehicle, a campsite, a parade, or a gathering with friends. The common thread is pride, connection, and the desire to display something that matters.
Meeting Dorothy On The Road
Armor Flagpoles is also a story about partnership. The work, travel, and conversations behind the business have been shaped by the people who have shared the road with us.
I still got honey-do projects, too.
A Traveling Partnership
I met Dorothy while selling flags in Navarre, Florida. She brings 33 years of professional federal-government experience to our life and business, and she is now my traveling partner.
We have built a lifestyle around traveling, meeting people, working events, and enjoying the places we visit. Our dog is from Live Oak, and our time on the road has introduced us to people and communities we might never have met otherwise.
That personal connection matters. Armor Flagpoles is not a faceless operation. It is a small business shaped by two people who enjoy being out in the community and talking with customers face to face.
Living The RV Lifestyle
Traveling full time changes the way you think about home, work, equipment, and community. It has given us a firsthand understanding of what it means to set up and rely on outdoor gear wherever the road leads.
Work, Travel, And The Florida Panhandle
Dorothy and I live the RV lifestyle and spend much of our time around the Florida Panhandle. We enjoy the freedom of traveling, seeing new places, visiting family and friends, and working events along the way.
Life on the road also gives us a practical understanding of outdoor equipment. We know what it means to set up, take down, transport, maintain, and rely on gear in changing conditions. We have been through several hurricanes, so we understand that weather is not just a forecast on a phone. It can test every part of an outdoor setup.
Why Real-World Experience Matters
Customers need more than a flagpole that looks good on the day it arrives. They need equipment that makes sense for the way they live and that they can understand, operate, and maintain over time.
Built For More Than A Display
A flagpole may look simple, but customers depend on it to stay secure, operate smoothly, and look good through many seasons. That is why we pay attention to the details that matter after the sale, not just the first impression.
- How quickly the system can be set up
- How easily customers can raise, lower, or change a flag
- How the equipment handles outdoor exposure
- How the system fits a home, RV, vehicle, event, or community space
- How clearly the customer understands what is included
Our goal is simple: provide durable flagpole equipment that makes displaying a flag easier, more practical, and more dependable.
Who Armor Flagpoles Is Here To Serve
The people who buy flags are not all looking for the same thing, but they often share a strong connection to country, family, service, or community. That shared respect is at the heart of this business.
A Business Built On Respect
Armor Flagpoles was founded on respect for our country and support for military members, veterans, first responders, seniors, and fellow patriots. We understand that a flag can represent service, family, memory, faith, freedom, or a personal promise.
That is why the customer’s story matters. Whether someone is replacing an old flagpole, setting up a display at an RV campground, preparing for a parade, or adding a flag to their home, we want to help them choose equipment that fits the way they live.
A Flag Can Start A Conversation
A flag display is often the beginning of a conversation, not the end of one. The people we meet are a big part of why this work continues to feel meaningful.
The People Behind The Display
One of the best parts of selling flags is seeing how quickly a display can bring people together. At an event, a flag often becomes an opening conversation. People share where they are from, who they served with, what their family believes in, or why a particular flag matters to them.
That is the spirit behind Armor Flagpoles. We are proud to build a business around service, travel, community, and dependable equipment. If you would like to learn more about our story and our RV lifestyle, visit our veteran-owned business and RV lifestyle page.
